What is the GMAT?

The GMAT or Graduate Management Admissions Test is a standardised computer-adaptive test conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admissions Council).   • Integrated Reasoning

The integrated reasoning section of the GMAT requires you to interpret data being presented to you in a visual format. There are four different types of questions include — table analysis, multi-source reasoning, graphic interpretation and two-part analysis. You are required to answer 12 MCQs based on your understanding of the data presented to you. Scored on a range of 1-8 with a single point increment system, the integrated reasoning is 30 minutes long.

  • Quantitative Reasoning

The quantitative reasoning section of the GMAT comprises 31 questions that need to be answered within a total of 60 minutes. Scored on a scale of 6-51, the quant section of the GMAT tests your ability to use basic mathematical concepts to solve complex problems. While you’re not expected to know advanced maths, you must be proficient with math concepts to solve complex word problems or data sufficiency questions.

  • Verbal Reasoning

The verbal reasoning section of the GMAT is also 60 minutes long; however, you have to answer a total of 36 questions as opposed to 31 in quant. Scored on a scale of 6-51 with a one-point increment, the GMAT verbal reasoning section has three types of questions — reading comprehension, critical reasoning and sentence correction.
